We deserve better.

Our ambitious mission.

Build a better future for everyone in Galveston County, leveraging our diversity to advocate for the greater good of the community.

Galveston County is incredibly special, backed by a rich history of accomplishment and perseverance…

If you live in Galveston County, you know how special our community is. We are the birthplace of Juneteenth, when Federal soldiers took control of the State of Texas and freed all enslaved people. We were the trailblazers who led the charge into humanity’s final frontier when we landed on the moon. We are the 17th most populous county in Texas; spanning 379 square miles, Galveston County has beaches, bustling suburbs, and quiet rural areas. We are incredibly unique in our diversity, with almost 40% of our population identifying as non-white. Astronauts, teachers, doctors, plant workers, engineers, plumbers, electricians, small business owners, students, blue-collar, white-collar, homemakers - our community has it all.

… but our elected officials are failing us - they have proved that their own interests matter more than us.

Our county is full of great Texans and Americans who have accomplished so much, but our current Republican leadership is preventing us from achieving our full potential. They use our differences to pit us against each other so that we can’t work towards policies that would benefit us all. They’re too busy spreading their fiction, culture wars, and conspiracy theories to provide real solutions to real problems like COVID-19. They don’t have a plan for how to keep jobs in the community as oil and gas gradually decline in importance. They are actively trying to take our voice away by making it harder to vote. Unless you’re rich, they don’t care about you. Fear, divisiveness, and hatred reign in the Republican Party.

As GCDP, we will ensure that the future of political leadership in Galveston County serves you.

As the Galveston County Democratic Party, we aim to build a better future where every person in our county is fairly represented and where we can unlock our county’s fullest potential. We serve our community by supporting fiscally responsible, results-oriented leadership to our local, state, and national offices. We fight for your voice, your right to vote, and your children to live in a sustainable world. We know that our diversity is our strength, and we work to build coalitions to benefit all of us because, unlike what Republicans will tell you, we have much more in common than we do apart. We do all of this because we believe that a strong America requires a strong middle-class served by our government officials. Our Republican leadership serves a fear-mongering fundamentalist minority, nefarious foreign powers, and themselves; as the Democratic Party, we will ensure that the future of political leadership in Galveston County serves you.

If it isn’t already obvious, we’re doing things a bit differently around here, and we need your help so that we can work towards our ambitious mission. No matter who you are or where you come from, there’s a place for you here in the GCDP. Join us in building a better future for our home.

Our work would not be possible without our 40+ precinct chairs. Find your chair.

What’s a precinct chair?

Precinct Chairs are party officials, elected to a two-year term in the Democratic Party Primary. They lead a small geographic area, and are responsible for organizing and turning out Democratic voters in their precinct to the elections. Precinct Chairs also work together as part of the County Executive Committee (CEC) to plan overall strategy.

How do I become one?

Reach out to chair@gcdptx.org to see how you can get involved. The County Chair will help get you signed up as an official precinct chair, or help get your name on the ballot. Once you’re officially a Precinct Chair, you’ll get to network with local leaders and institutions in your area, and help organize the party and turn out the vote. You’ll get access to special trainings on how to message, fundraise, and run an awesome ground game, and you’ll have the opportunity to work with other passionate, motivated people like yourself.
