Freedom is all about choices but our Republican friends are using a curious definition of that idea.

We must fight on every front. We need to collect votes to protect Roe. We must fund candidates and initiatives that can provide healthcare for all mothers. We must protect contraceptive freedom. We must stand for the most cherished American value of all, freedom.

Before we leave behind Women’s History Month, let’s take a moment to reflect on the state of women’s rights in the Lone Star State.

On Feb. 22, Gov. Greg Abbott directed the Department of Family and Protective Services to consider gender-affirming medical treatments for transgender youth to be child abuse.

Texas Republicans have proven again and again they are comfortable jeopardizing the quality of our children’s education to whip their base into a frenzy.

This month, we should honor survivors of sexual assault by continuing the conversation, raising awareness about the shocking scope of this problem. Not to mention the systemic complicity in the criminal justice system and in American culture.

There is a lot to celebrate this Women’s History Month–including the very people who are doing women’s history: teachers, curators, and authors. Understanding what it means to do women’s history today is crucial for understanding why it matters.

GCDP held its inaugural fundraising event Tuesday evening on December 7th. The GCDP Winter Fundraiser: A Solstice Soirée was all that the name implies: tasteful, sophisticated, convivial, and fun. Donors met with candidates and Democratic leaders in an intimate setting, and enjoyed an open bar and delicious appetizers.

Today, we are excited to launch our new website and new logo for the Galveston County Democratic Party (GCDP). This amazing accomplishment was the culmination of months of hard work, and I’m here to share the story on behalf of our Communications team for how we got here.
