Our organization is entirely volunteer-driven and we don’t take money from lobbyists. Most of us are political outsiders who fight for the soul of our community, so no matter who you are or where you come from, there’s a place for you here in the GCDP.   • Communications

    The Communications Committee is the voice of the GCDP, and its vision is to make the GCDP a household name. This committee is in charge of crafting our message based on our target voters, defining and executing on a strategy for how to reach those voters, and transforming all surfaces and channels of the GCDP to match our mission. The website you’re looking at is also from yours truly ;).

  • Fundraising

    The Fundraising Committee is the powerhouse engine for all the committees. This committee builds networks and relationships with our local community to raise money to support the rest of the team and helps our Democratic candidates and leaders with their own fundraising initiatives. The Fundraising Committee also oversees the organization’s overall funding and budget.

  • Outreach

    The Outreach Committee plays a crucial role in ensuring GCDP has a presence in the county. This committee identifies community events and festivals throughout Galveston County and ensures that we have a presence there. This Committee also identifies and recruits potential volunteers and conducts outreach activities for voter registration and coordinates candidate recruitment and support.

  • Operations

    The Operations Committee is responsible for the election plan and Get Out the Vote Efforts (e.g. Block Walkers, Phone Banking, Texting), and Election activity (e.g. Poll Watchers, Poll Greeters, Election Judge, Officers, Ballot Board and Central Count). This committee also operates headquarters and is responsible for security measures.

  • Diversity & Inclusion

    The Diversity and Inclusion Committee will lead advocacy efforts for diversity, equity, and inclusion and work to enhance cultural competence, support anti-racism efforts, and seek to create a more inclusive culture both within and beyond the GCDP. This committee will design and oversee active recruitment efforts and address programmatic obstacles for underrepresented groups to increase the number of members from diverse backgrounds.

  • Party Support

    The Party Support Committee is responsible for providing overall support and coordination for the GCDP and its Committees. This committee takes a lead on developing and managing the party’s formal documents, databases (i.e. VAN and other), data strategy, event calendar, bylaws, best practices and supporting tools and consistent volunteer instructions. Additionally, this committee monitors changes to party rules, election codes and other to ensure GCDP stays aligned. It also handles purchases, contracts and other GCDP needs that may be identified.

  • Training

    The Training Committee is responsible for training Galveston County Democrats who want to run or volunteer on campaigns including precinct chairs, candidates, and members of the party. This committee coordinates training matrix requirements by role, training development and training delivery, and recordkeeping.

What’s a sustaining donor?

Sustaining donors give regularly to the party. They play a huge role enabling the GCDP to invest in on-the-ground organizing, robust voter protection efforts, and the digital infrastructure Democrats up and down the ballot will rely on to win in the years to come.
